Restoration of Florida's Everglades
Restoration of Florida's Everglades
Sciences Ecology Life Sciences Biology Social Studies
Scientific technologies and techniques are starting the restoration of the Everglades wetlands to nearly its pristine, natural state. Newly introduced and engineered plants are being used to cleanse the water of fertilizer chemicals and pollutants before reintroducing it back into the wetlands. Meanwhile, we see how tree islands, land that is only 10% of the total wetlands, are vital to preserving their biodiversity and a healthy balance of land and water. Many tests have revealed how far out into the ocean the Everglades’ negative and positive effects can be felt. The Everglades wetlands rebirth just begins. How complete will it be?
